2025 – a good year of fundraising

2025 was an exceptionally good year of fundraising for the charity. Guto completed the Ironman Challenge in Tallinn on the 22nd of September in just under 13 hours and raised a fantastic £11,000 to the fund.

Then in September another special fundraising event was held.

On September 13 / 14th fourteen of Robin’s friends from Loughborough University, 10 years from his passing, embarked on the ‘3 Peak Challenge’ in his memory, This was a fantastic effort which took 28 hours and they managed to raise a further £4,000.

Guto Fundraising Effort - Guto’s Ironman Challenge

2025 is a significant year for my family - September marks a decade since the passing of my brother, Robin - and on 20 August, he would have turned 30.

Not many people know this, but shortly after his death - we found his bucket list, and slowly my parents and I have been ticking them off in his memory.

To mark this significant year, I will be taking on one of the trickier ones on the list - completing an Ironman. A 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run at the Ironman Tallinn event on 23 August.

Training has been long and hard so far - 8 months, hundreds of hours, thousands of kilometres, two injuries, one half Iron distance triathlon, countless energy gels and endless planning/research - and still a long way to go in the last 7 weeks.

This is not really a fundraiser, this is for him and is in his memory - this is for the bucket list. That said, it feels like a good opportunity to raise awareness of the charity we have set up in his memory, Cofio Robin - that supports young aspiring athletes on their journey. The training numbers are meaningless really - the numbers that really matter are the £100,000+ distributed by the charity to 110+ athletes since it was established in 2018.
